This session was something else —and I mean that in the best way possible!

These two showed up ready to fully embrace an awkward department store photo vibe, and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much during a shoot.
Think matching t-shirts, coordinated denim, and those dramatic, overly serious poses we all remember from the photo studio days.
They absolutely committed—from the stoic gazes to the hand-on-shoulder stances that somehow manage to be both awkward and endearing at the same time.

What made it even better was how much fun they had with it. Between every “serious” pose came bursts of laughter, inside jokes, and moments that ended up being just as sweet as they were hilarious. By the end, my cheeks hurt from smiling so much—always a good sign.

I love sessions like this because they’re such a great reminder that photos don’t always have to be serious or perfectly posed. Sometimes, leaning into the silly and just having fun together makes for the most memorable images.

Would you ever do a session like this?
Because after this one, I’m officially adding “awkward department store portraits” to my list of favorites!
